Some biographies also mention an elder brother, Kishore Ravi. Her family background has generally remained away from the intense media spotlight, and she has built most of her public identity around her own work rather than celebrity family connections. This makes her professional journey particularly notable because her recognition developed largely through her own digital content and subsequent acting opportunities.
Poornima Ravi Career Journey
Beginning With Digital Content
Poornima Ravi’s career became widely visible through digital entertainment rather than mainstream cinema. She launched the Araathi YouTube channel on 2 July 2019, creating humorous videos, short stories and content inspired by everyday situations. Her videos frequently explored relationships, family situations, women-centric topics, cricket and social observations through a comedic format. One of her most recognizable viral works, Types of Deepavali Celebrations, accumulated more than 16 million views according to the YouTube listing captured in search results, showing how quickly her digital presence could reach a mass Tamil-speaking audience.
Growth of Araathi
The success of Araathi established Poornima not only as an on-camera performer but also as a creator involved in the creative process. Search records show her taking part in concepts and direction for some of the channel’s videos. Over the years, Araathi developed into a substantial Tamil digital entertainment brand, with current third-party YouTube analytics reporting millions of subscribers and more than a billion cumulative video views, although these numbers fluctuate continuously and should be treated as live estimates rather than fixed biographical statistics.
Entry Into Films
Poornima gradually transitioned from online sketches to acting in feature films. Her film journey includes Plan Panni Pannanum in 2021, followed by projects such as Chotta, Annapoorani and Sevappi. This transition demonstrated that her digital popularity could translate into conventional acting opportunities. Her performance-oriented background from short-form videos also gave her experience in character portrayal, dialogue delivery and comic timing before she moved into longer narrative formats.
Bigg Boss Tamil 7
One of the biggest turning points in Poornima Ravi’s public profile came with Bigg Boss Tamil Season 7 in 2023. The reality show exposed her personality beyond scripted digital videos and allowed television audiences to see her opinions, interpersonal relationships and emotional responses in an unscripted environment. Her participation generated considerable discussion online and significantly increased her mainstream recognition.
Sevappi and Later Acting Work
After her reality-show appearance, Poornima continued concentrating on acting. Sevappi, released as an OTT film in 2024, was an important project because she played a central role in the story rather than appearing simply as a digital creator making a cameo. She subsequently appeared in Nalla Perai Vaanga Vendum Pillaigale and later projects including Yellow and Trauma. IMDb’s current listing also records her appearances in 2025 and 2026 productions.
Lingam and 2026 Career Update
In 2026, Poornima appeared in the Tamil crime-thriller series Lingam, which premiered on 26 June 2026 and streams on JioHotstar. The series stars Kathir and Divya Bharathi alongside Poornima and other performers. A July 2026 report from DT Next specifically highlighted Poornima and Divya Bharathi as female leads whose appearance and performances were shaped to suit the show’s rustic world. Her involvement in Lingam represents another step in her progression from short-form internet entertainment toward more demanding narrative projects.
Manjanathi
Poornima’s career is also moving toward another major Tamil-film opportunity. In September 2026, Filmfare reported that filming had begun on Mari Selvaraj’s Manjanathi and that Poornima Ravi had joined the cast alongside Priyanka Mohan, Kayadu Lohar and Kathir. The project is especially notable because it is Mari Selvaraj’s sixth feature and marks his first collaboration with veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja. This makes Manjanathi one of the most significant upcoming projects associated with Poornima Ravi at present.
TV Shows, Films, Web Series and Songs
Poornima Ravi’s screen career covers several formats, although her early digital work is especially important in understanding how she became popular. Her filmography includes supporting and lead performances, while her online work includes short films and web-series-style productions released through YouTube. Her reality-television participation in Bigg Boss Tamil 7 further broadened her audience.
