VJ Vishal is a familiar name among Tamil television audiences, especially for his work as a video jockey, television presenter and actor. His popularity grew steadily through hosting assignments and serial appearances before receiving a much wider audience through reality television. He became particularly well known for playing Ezhil in the popular Star Vijay serial Baakiyalakshmi, and his later participation in Bigg Boss Tamil 8 brought another major phase to his public career. Search results currently contain conflicting information about his birth year: several established biography and entertainment-profile pages list 13 February 1996, while the current Wikipedia entry lists 13 February 1997. Because the 1996 date is repeated by multiple entertainment sources and is also used by profiles that calculate his age, this article follows 13 February 1996, making VJ Vishal 30 years old as of September 2026. His career is notable because he did not enter television only as an actor; he developed experience as an anchor and assistant director before establishing himself in front of the camera.
Who Is VJ Vishal?
VJ Vishal is an Indian Tamil television actor and presenter who has worked across serials, reality programmes, comedy shows and music videos. His professional journey began around the anchoring space, where he learned the practical skills of communicating with viewers and handling television formats, and he subsequently gained behind-the-scenes experience as an assistant director. His acting career developed through Tamil television, with appearances including Kalyanamam Kalyanam, Aranmanai Kili and Baakiyalakshmi. The character Ezhil in Baakiyalakshmi became one of the strongest identifiers of his television career, while shows such as Cooku With Comali and Ready Steady Po allowed viewers to see a more informal and entertaining side of his personality. His entry into Bigg Boss Tamil 8 in 2024 further increased his visibility, and he eventually finished in third place.

VJ Vishal Age
According to the birth date most frequently reported by the entertainment profiles reviewed for this article, VJ Vishal was born on 13 February 1996, which means he is 30 years old in 2026. There is, however, a genuine discrepancy online: the current Wikipedia page gives his birth year as 1997, which would make him 29 in September 2026. Other pages, including NETTV4U and StarsUnfolded, continue to use 13 February 1996. Therefore, readers looking specifically for the answer to “VJ Vishal age” should be aware of the conflicting records rather than treating one unverified date as unquestionably established. Using the 1996 date, his age is 30.
Early Life and Education
VJ Vishal was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and his educational background is an interesting part of his story because his academic path was not directly connected with acting or television. Sources consistently describe him as having studied at A.V. Meiyappan Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Chennai before pursuing engineering. Some profiles identify Anna University as his institution, while other biography pages name Sree Sastha Institute of Engineering and Technology in Chembarambakkam, Tamil Nadu, so the exact institutional record is inconsistent across online sources. What is clearer is that he completed a B.E.-level engineering education and eventually chose the entertainment industry rather than following a conventional engineering career. His transition demonstrates how his professional identity developed gradually, beginning with television presentation and eventually expanding into acting and reality programming.

VJ Vishal Family Background
Information about VJ Vishal’s parents and wider family is relatively limited compared with the amount of information available about his television career. Biography sources identify his birthplace as Coimbatore and mention a sister named Akshaya, but detailed, independently verified information about his parents’ professions and personal lives is not consistently available. For that reason, it would be misleading to fill the gaps with speculation. What can reasonably be said is that his educational background and eventual movement into television reflect a career in which he first built experience through presenting and production work before gaining recognition as an actor. His public image has generally remained more focused on his professional achievements than on extensive family publicity.
VJ Vishal Career Journey
Beginning as an Anchor and VJ
VJ Vishal’s entry into entertainment came through television presentation rather than a major film debut. Sources place the beginning of his anchoring career around 2016, after which he developed experience in television hosting. His early work gave him an opportunity to become comfortable in front of the camera, communicate spontaneously and understand how entertainment programmes are produced. In 2017, he hosted Cal Panna Kaasu on Velicham TV, a role that helped establish his identity as a VJ. He also worked on television programmes associated with Vendhar TV.
Experience Behind the Camera
Before becoming widely recognised as an actor, Vishal also gained experience behind the scenes. He worked as an assistant director on television programmes such as Athu Ithu Yethu and Kalakkal Champions. This part of his career is important because it shows that his knowledge of television was not limited to presenting or acting. Working behind the camera could have helped him understand production schedules, performers, scripting and the rhythm required for entertainment programmes.
Acting Debut and Television Serials
Vishal subsequently moved into acting, with Kalyanamam Kalyanam identified as an early television acting credit in 2018. He went on to appear in Aranmanai Kili and other Tamil television projects before landing the role that would become closely associated with his name: Ezhil in Baakiyalakshmi. His work in serial television allowed him to build a connection with family audiences, and the popularity of Baakiyalakshmi gave him significantly greater recognition.
Ezhil in Baakiyalakshmi
The role of Ezhil in Baakiyalakshmi was a major turning point for VJ Vishal. The serial, broadcast on Star Vijay, provided him with sustained exposure and helped audiences recognise him primarily as an actor rather than only as a television host. His performance was significant enough to earn him the Best Supporting Male recognition at the Vijay Tele Awards in 2022, according to multiple biography sources. Vishal later left the role, and entertainment coverage around his departure noted that his portrayal had become an important part of his public identity.
Comedy and Reality Television
Vishal continued expanding beyond scripted serials by appearing in entertainment and reality formats. In 2022, he hosted Kalakka Povathu Yaaru? Champions, giving him an opportunity to return to the presentation style with which he had begun his career. In 2023, he participated in Cooku With Comali Season 4, a popular cooking-comedy programme, and he also co-hosted Ready Steady Po. These appearances helped demonstrate his versatility because reality and comedy programmes require a different screen presence from daily serials.
Bigg Boss Tamil 8
One of the biggest visibility boosts in Vishal’s career came with his participation in Bigg Boss Tamil 8 in 2024. Entering the programme after already having a television following meant that viewers were able to see a more personal and unscripted side of him. He remained in the competition until the final stage and ultimately finished third, making him the second runner-up. India Today reported that Muthukumaran won the season, Soundariya finished first runner-up, and VJ Vishal secured third place. His Bigg Boss appearance therefore became another major milestone after Baakiyalakshmi.
Music Videos and Later Work
Vishal has also explored music-video appearances, extending his work beyond serials and reality television. His listed music-video credits include Emone in 2023 and Haiyoo Saachale and Kasuilla in 2025. These projects complement his television career by allowing him to work in shorter, music-led formats where visual performance and screen chemistry are especially important. His continuing appearances across different entertainment formats suggest an effort to maintain versatility rather than being identified with only one television character.
TV Shows, Films and Songs
VJ Vishal’s career is predominantly associated with Tamil television rather than a large filmography. Available sources document serials, reality programmes, hosting assignments and music videos, while film-related claims found on older biography pages are not sufficiently consistent to present as confirmed major credits. His strongest documented screen association remains television, particularly Baakiyalakshmi and Bigg Boss Tamil 8.

VJ Vishal Relationship
VJ Vishal is not publicly known to be married, and current biographical profiles generally describe him as unmarried. His personal relationships have attracted attention partly because of conversations during Bigg Boss Tamil 8. In November 2024, The Times of India reported that Vishal spoke about a previous relationship inside the Bigg Boss house and explained that he and his former partner had mutually decided to separate after initially receiving parental support for their relationship. This is more reliable than treating online relationship rumours as confirmed facts. There have also been entertainment discussions linking him with co-stars, but he has not established a current marriage or publicly confirmed a present romantic partner through the sources reviewed. Consequently, the safest description is that Vishal is unmarried and keeps much of his current personal life private.

VJ Vishal Awards and Recognition
The clearest documented individual award associated with VJ Vishal is the Best Supporting Male recognition at the Vijay Tele Awards in 2022, linked to his television work. His recognition is also reflected in his sustained audience popularity, particularly through Ezhil in Baakiyalakshmi and his later Bigg Boss Tamil 8 journey. Finishing third in a major reality programme is not technically an acting award, but it represents a notable audience-facing achievement and expanded his visibility beyond scripted television. India Today confirmed his third-place finish in the season finale in January 2025.
| Year | Recognition / Achievement | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | Best Supporting Male – Vijay Tele Awards | Recognition associated with Baakiyalakshmi |

Publicly documented interests, however, include fitness, entertainment work, social-media activity and affection for animals. Profile sources specifically mention that he is an animal lover and has a pet dog, while his social-media profile is also categorised around entertainment, automotive interests and fitness.

Fitness and Lifestyle
Fitness forms a visible part of VJ Vishal’s public lifestyle, with biography sources noting that he regularly goes to the gym and shares workout-related moments on social media. His lean and athletic appearance is consistent with that public image, although there is not enough verified information to state a fixed training schedule, calorie intake or specific diet plan. Beyond fitness, his lifestyle is closely tied to the demands of television and entertainment, where maintaining energy, appearance and camera confidence can be professionally useful. His social-media activity also indicates a mix of work, fitness and personal interests rather than a profile limited solely to acting.
VJ Vishal Net Worth and Income Sources
There is no audited or officially disclosed figure for VJ Vishal’s net worth in the sources reviewed, so online estimates should be treated as approximate rather than fact. One 2025 biography profile estimated his net worth at around ₹1 crore, but such celebrity-net-worth figures are generally based on assumptions about earnings and assets rather than publicly available financial records. His likely professional income streams include television acting, hosting, reality-show appearances, music-video work, brand collaborations and social-media opportunities. His Instagram profile is currently reported at roughly 902,600 followers as of September 2026, illustrating the size of the audience that can support commercial collaborations, although the exact value of any individual deal is not public.

Controversies
VJ Vishal has attracted discussion during his reality-television appearances, but it is important to distinguish ordinary television debates from serious verified controversies. His Bigg Boss Tamil 8 journey generated attention around his behaviour, relationships and interactions inside the house, as is common with contestants on a reality programme built around interpersonal dynamics. One of the more personal moments involved his discussion of a past relationship and the mutual decision to end it after both sides had initially involved their families. Beyond such reality-show discussions and entertainment reporting, the sources reviewed do not establish a major legal or criminal controversy involving Vishal, so sensational online claims should not be presented as established facts without stronger evidence.
